We handle a large volume of various fruits daily for cake decorations and were looking for a compact and practical machine to reduce processing time. Mangoes, in particular, are very popular in Hong Kong and used in large quantities, requiring skilled staff to spend long hours peeling them. Since this was a manual process, there were inconsistencies in yield and processing speed among staff members, and we felt the need for improvement.
After watching videos of ASTRA’s peeling machines, we decided to implement them based on a comprehensive evaluation of their high processing speed, compact design, and the fact that they are washable with water. The ability to handle oval-shaped fruits like Philippine mangoes was also a very attractive feature.
Peeling mangoes used to take a lot of time and had to be done by skilled staff, but now part-time workers can perform the same task with just the press of a button. In addition to reducing the workload, concerns about tenosynovitis (RSIs) from long hours of repetitive work and the risk of injury when handling knives have also been mitigated.
